CRS Holds Inquiry into AP Train Accident

Visakhapatnam: South Central Railway’s Commissioner for Railway Safety (CRS) Pranjeev Saxena held the statutory inquiry into the rear-end collision of Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train into the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger between Kantakapalli and Alamanda stations of Waltair Division.

The inquiry commenced at the meeting hall of the Divisional Railway Manager’s office at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Nearly 50 railway personnel attended the meeting, including gangmen, station masters, loco pilots and signal persons.

The inquiry went on till 6 p.m. The probe by CRS will continue on Thursday.

The commissioner has appealed to eyewitnesses among public to come forward and record their statements, thereby helping investigators in understanding the circumstances leading to the collision.

Sources said once the inquiry is completed, a report will be compiled and presented to the railway board in about a fortnight.
