Railways starts women's help centre at Thiruvananthapuram

The centre will be run exclusively by women Railway officials including the RPF.

Thiruvananthapuram: For the exclusive assistance of women passengers, Southern Railway is launching exclusive women facilitation centres in all major stations. The facilitation centre at the Thiruvananthapuram Central station was opened on Tuesday, November 1, Kerala Piravi day. The centre will be run exclusively by women Railway officials including the RPF.

The purpose of the centre is for senior railway women officials to provide all kinds of assistance to women passengers. The centre would address primarily all their needs including security and information. The assistance booth will work round the clock and is situated near the new booking office. The speciality of the assistance booth is that there will be a feeding room for lactating mothers.

Additional facilities include wheelchairs, easy services of porters and accessibility to prepaid auto and taxis. The centre will have a 24-hour helpline number 9567869385 exclusively for women. This is in addition to the toll free helpline number 138 and 182 of the Railways. All the women passengers anywhere in Triandrum division which spans from Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari to Shornur can use the helpline number in case of any emergency.
