MK Stalin seeks steps to improve climate for industrial investments
Chennai: Citing reports of Tamil Nadu sliding down in the list of preferred destination for industrial investments, Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Tuesday sought suitable reforms to create conducive climate for new industrial ventures.
The state government should take initiatives at least to implement the 98 MoUs signed during the Global Investors Meet, he said and added that Tamil Nadu should be turned into a model state for economic growth.
Stalin said the World Bank's report on ease of doing business had blown up 'the false propaganda' of the AIADMK ministers that Tamil Nadu had become the first state in industrial development.
The neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had carried out the necessary reforms to create a conducive atmosphere for industrial investments and taken the first two places in the list, the DMK treasurer pointed out and Tamil Nadu had been pushed to the 18th place.
The major reforms sought by the Centre included transparency, single window system, land acquisition, permission for construction activities and environmental clearance, Stalin pointed out and said there is no improvement on the five parameters in Tamil Nadu.
The AIADMK government had spent time on empty announcements like 'Vision 2023' and 'New Industrial Policy 2014, he alleged and added that the Global Investors Meet did not help in generating employment and industrial development.
The reports had proved that the charges made by the DMK that permissions are not given on time to those coming forward to begin new industrial ventures in the state, he said.
