Metro crane crushes man at MJ Market in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A homeless man aged around 50 year, was crushed to death on Tuesday, run over by a crane while sleeping on the footpath opposite Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Police said the crane was moving towards MJ Market Metro Rail construction site when it climbed on a damaged footpath, where the man was sleeping.
Begum Bazaar inspector G. Sridhar said, “As the crane was huge, the driver did not notice the man. Passersby noticed when the crane crushed the victim, and they alerted the driver. However, the victim was already dead.”
The police has taken the crane driver into custody and booked a case against him under Section 304A for causing death by negligence.
On receiving information, a team of police rushed to the spot and took the driver into custody. Police said the mishap occurred due to the negligence of the driver.
“The man is unidentified. We did not find any clues with him to establish his identity. His body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.” the inspector said.
