James panel to check documents of Kannur and Karuna medical colleges

A Division Bench had directed the colleges to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for wasting the time of the court.

Thiruvananthapuram: The admission supervisory committee headed by Justice J.M. James has begun examining the documents of admissions of Kannur and Karuna medical colleges to ensure compliance with its directions. The Kerala High Court had earlier directed the committee to scrutinise all relevant records as they had not complied with the conditions such as online uploading of MBBS applications set by the court. A Division Bench had directed the colleges to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for wasting the time of the court.

Justice James told Deccan Chronicle that the panel would examine whether the students admitted to the colleges were matching with those who have been included in the rank list and whether the rank list was prepared as per the norms fixed by the committee. It will also cross-check the information on admissions with the list of students submitted to the Kerala University of Health Sciences and the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Mr James said.
