Tamil Nadu Health Minister inspects new super specialty block at Stanley Hospital
Chennai: Health minister C. Vijaya Baskar, on Tuesday, inspected a new specialty tower block coming up at the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital. An estimate Rs 75 crore has been allocated for this hospital. Construction works are progressing, stated a release.
An estimate of Rs 58.65 crore was allocated for Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital to construct blocks for out patients. Another Rs 19.65 crore was allocated for the orthopedics department, the release added.
For Madras Medical College, Rs 28.85 crore is sanctioned to construct a hostel. Another amount of Rs 29.48 crore has been sanctioned for the nephrology department and also to construct operation theatres for kidney related surgeries.
The estimates of the projects and plans of progressing were all released on Tuesday. The health minister instructed doctors to periodically monitor the progress of the construction works and he asked of the contract workers to stick to the schedules.
The construction works are being undertaken by the public works department (PWD), the release stated, adding that health secretary J. Radhakrishnan, PWD superintending engineer K. Mohanraj and Dr. Narayan Babu, Dean, Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital were present.
