System error in Andhra Pradesh Online website triggers chaos

75,000 applicants across the state suffer due to the fault.

Vijayawada: The application functional error of the AP Online website has created havoc among the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) applicants across the state, officials of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) and APCRDA.

However, the MA&UD and APCRDA officials are running from pillar to post to convince the BPS applicants and also requesting them not to share the details to the media, as it leads to large scale commotion.

The senior officials of both MA&UD and CRDA have not even informed the higher-ups and to the principal secretary (MA&UD), about the error and trying their level best to address the issue at their level.

In fact, the BPS last date was closed on September 30, and from Friday evening the tab of that BPS penalties had been missing on AP Online website, according to a few applicants and the CRDA’s director (Development Control) V. Ramudu also conformed it.

The entire episode came to light following the submission of indemnity bonds online by a few BPS applicants, as they are astonished to go through the payment details, as it is showing less to that of they paid already, during the online submission of online indemnity bonds.

“I have paid Rs 93,000 towards BPS well in advance and now after I was asked to submit the Indemnity bond, the system is showing that I have paid Rs 63,000 only,” one applicant told this correspondent.

When he tried to contact the CRDA officials over the issue, he got an answer that they are helpless as it is to be addressed by the AP Online team only. However, Mr Ramudu is clueless over the discrepancies in the payments made by the applicants.

“Even we don’t know as to what to do,” he said, and added that they can’t refund the excess money paid by the applicants as it is, as there is a government procedure. The director (Development Control) also said that this didn’t happen only with the CRDA and in the entire state some 75,000 applicants are facing the same issue.

When asked about the status of the refund of excess penalty paid by the applicants in huge amounts, Mr Ramudu said that the government has to take a final call on that.

“However, I asked the applicants to mail us their grievances, which would be brought to the notices of the government,” he added.
