Swathi murder case: Ramkumar autopsy reveals external injuries
Chennai: The autopsy of P. Ramkumar, the accused in the brutal murder of techie Swathi, on Saturday, found six to seven external injuries on his body, particularly on the face, cheek and neck. Following the long legal battle that his parents have been fighting, his postmortem was held at the Government Royapettah Hospital mortuary on Saturday.
“Once the postmortem was completed, we held discussions on the findings with the medical board up to 3.30 pm and finalised it by 4 pm,” Dr Sudhir K. Gupta, head of the Department of Forensic Sciences, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) told DC .
“The report that we had finalised has been sent to the magistrate. There were six to seven external injuries on the body, particularly on the face, cheek and neck. We preserved certain samples from the body and took tissues from the injury.
The samples have been sent to the Hyderabad Forensic Laboratory for further confirmation on whether the injuries are electrical burns or not,” said Dr Gupta, who was deputed to be a part of the postmortem team, following an order from the Supreme Court. Ramkumar’s last rituals are expected to be performed on Sunday.
