CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Kamal Haasan discuss politics

The actor also had lunch with the Chief Minister and his family.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Kamal Haasan called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the latter’s official residence, Cliff House on Friday. Sharing details of his meeting with the actor on his Facebook page, the Chief Minister said though the visit was purely friendly, they discussed politics this time especially the recent developments in Tamil Nadu. “Of late, Kamal Haasan has been expressing his views about national and state level politics on his social media handles. He shared his various opinions with me. I also briefed him about various people-friendly steps taken by the LDF government in the state,” the Chief Minister said.

He wished Kamal Haasan good for all his future endeavours. This was the first meeting of the actor with Mr Vijayan after the latter became the Chief Minister. The actor also had lunch with the Chief Minister and his family. Later Kamal Haasan hailed the Chief Minister as one of his heroes. “Everyone has heroes. Most of the Leftists are my heroes. There are some in my family as well,” he told reporters after his meeting with Mr Vijayan Speculations have been rife about his entry into politics for quite some time now. At a marriage function of a fan in Coimbaore the other day, Mr Haasan had asked his fans to be prepared to throw out corrupt leaders from the political system immediately.

He sought to know from his fans whether they were ready to take up the challenge, and if yes they should start the work right away. It may be recalled on August 11, while speaking at DMK mega event in Chennai, he recalled that he had received a letter from M. Karunannitdhi in 1983 which was an invitation to join the DMK. " I haven’t responded to that letter yet, Karunanidhi also never asked me about it again. That demonstrates his greatness. I came up on this stage expecting the same respect," he said amid applause.
