Mysuru: The special feature of Dasara this year will not just be ‘Theme Green’. The Dasara executive committee which came up with a blueprint of programmes for the 11-day Dasara festivities on Thursday, said they were planning events like ‘Caring and sharing’ for senior citizens, ‘Raitharondige Dasara’ for farmers, ‘Aadarsha dampathigalu’ for couples and a women’s empowerment rally besides cultural programmes by women and children.
District in-charge minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa told mediapersons that the committee will officially invite writer Channaveera Kanavi to inaugurate the event between 11.40 am and noon on October 1 atop the Chamundi Hills. Later, police help desks, a film festival, food festival, adventure sports, wrestling, flower show, exhibition, book mela and cultural programmes will be held. The Sangeetha Vidwan award will be presented on same day. Women and Children’s Dasara will be held from October 2 to 6 and on October 8.
Farmers’ Dasara will be held from October 2 to 6. A poets’ meet will be held on October 7 and 8, and Yuva Dasara from October 3 to 9. Dasara half marathon and Dasara Darshan for villagers will be held on October 2. Caring and Sharing programme for senior citizens and Raitharondige will be held on October 4, a yoga meet, kite festival and best couple contests will be held on October 5, Sports for physically challenged and Police band will be held on October 6. On October 11, Vijayadashami procession will be held.
