Mujahid groups unite to take on Salafi preacher Shamsuddin Palath

Mr Madani added that his organization had warned against these kinds of self proclaimed preachers who confuse people in the name of Salafism.

Malappuram: It appears that Mujahid factions are united against the extremist ideology of Shamsuddin Palath, the Salafi preacher, who is under the radar for his extremist views. Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM) official faction state president T.P Abdulla Koya Madani said that the views, propagated by Mr Palath would create a rift in a diverse society. “The ideology he spreads has no roots in Kerala. This is the fallout of interpreting Quran out of context and understanding religion through the internet,” he lamented. Mr Madani added that his organization had warned against these kinds of self proclaimed preachers who confuse people in the name of Salafism.

“But we have no evidence to prove that Palath’s preaching caused a few youth to migrate to IS controlled states,” he pointed out. KNM (Madavoor faction) general secretary M. Swalahuddin Madani criticized speakers like Shamsuddin Palath as being propagators of spiritual extremism. “Time and again we have made it clear that Muslims are better off in India. While living in a pluralistic society, Muslims are bound to follow the system here,” he felt. Mr Swalahuddin Madani said that KNM would organize a religious harmony trip across the state to strengthen religious harmony and expose fake preachers.
