Bengaluru: Richmond Road flyover repair to hit traffic flow

After 20 days, the flyover leg from Mission Road and from the flyover to Residency Road will be closed for a period of six days.

BENGALURU: Motorists using Richmond Road flyover and adjoining roads will have a tough time for the next 40 days as the flyover is being resurfaced.

The work on the flyover started on Thursday and it is expected to get over in 40 days. Following this, the flyover from Richmond Road to Shantinagar Double Road will be closed for the next 40 days, till October 10.

After 20 days, the flyover leg from Mission Road and from the flyover to Residency Road will be closed for a period of six days. Then the other side of the flyover will be taken up for resurfacing.

The Richmond Road flyover is used by many four wheelers and also by most buses plying to and from Shantinagar Bus Stand. In addition to resurfacing the flyover, road repair is currently in progress from Lifestyle Mall (D’Souza Junction) to the Richmond Circle. This work is likely to take another month for completion.

This is expected to lead to traffic congestion at Richmond Road, Richmond Circle, Shantinagar Double Road, RRMR Road, Mission Road, Hudson Circle, Siddalingaiah Circle, Hosur Road and Opera Junction.

Though the traffic police will deploy extra staff to clear the traffic, vehicular movement around these localities will be badly hit throughout the day, especially during peak hours.

Regular commuters on these roads expressed displeasure over the project, as the ongoing TenderSure works on Richmond Road has already led to chaos and is causing traffic snarls. They suggested that the resurfacing project should be taken up after the completion of TenderSure works.
