Apollo patients to get millet food

HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) here on Monday announced Nutrihub’s initiative to popularise millet consumption by patients at hospitals. As part of this, Apollo Health City, Jubilee Hills, became India's first hospital to serve millet based foods to patients. The hospital has set up a cloud kitchen for millet based cuisine at its premises, which was awarded as the best cloud kitchen by the IIMR.

Apollo Hospitals said it was in the process of setting up a mechanism to source the millets directly the farmers. Speaking on the occasion, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Sangita Reddy said, “Millet cultivation and consumption is a win-win proposition from both the environmental and health perspectives. Millet farming is environment friendly and farmer friendly. Above all they are very healthy and a panacea for several lifestyle diseases the current generation suffer from”
