Reshuffle won't hit Malayalam actor abduction probe

Despite transfer, Dinendra Kashyap would head SIT probing the case, clarifies police spokesperson.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as Dinendra Kashyap was shifted from IG Crime Branch to the police headquarters, he will continue to head the special investigation team probing the actor abduction and rape case involving Dileep. As the transfer of Kashyap, along with many senior police officers on Monday, kicked off allegations of attempts to torpedo the case involving Dileep, an official spokesperson clarified that Kashyap will continue to lead the SIT. Earlier, there were allegations of Kashyap being sidelined while quizzing Dileep. Meanwhile, the shifting of Tomin Thachankary from ADGP police headquarters’ post was in view of a petition pending in the High Court challenging his posting at headquarters as he faced several charges.

The court already has made adverse remarks in this regard. Transport commissioner S. Aananthakrishan, who has a clear track record, was posted as ADGP headquarters. Thachankary was posted as Fire and Rescue Services Director shifting A. Hemachandran, an officer of DGP rank, as Crime Branch head. ADGP Vigilance Anil Kanth was posted as Transport Commissioner and ADGP (Crime Branch) Nithin Agarwal as KSEB vigilance officer. ADGP T.K. Vinod Kumar was posted as ADGP Internal Security.

B. Ashokan, who was recently posted as Vigilance Special Investigation Unit - I SP, was shifted as Kollam-rural SP. Ashokan faced charges of altering Vigilance reports during his earlier stint at the Vigilance and hence his posting at Vigilance had invited widespread criticism and even State Police Chief and Vigilance Director Loknath Behera had expressed displeasure over it. But his posting as Kollam rural SP also raised many eyebrows as it was considered as a hotbed of corruption. V.M. Moahmed Rafique was posted as Vigilance SIU-I SP.

P. Prakash was posted as Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner after shifting Sparjan Kumar as DIG intelligence. P. Jayanath was posted as Thiruvananthapuram DCP (law and order) in place of Arul B. Krishna, who was transferred as District Police Chief in Wayand. Rahul R. Nair was posted as Thrissur City Police Commissioner. R. Karuppuswami was posted as Kochi DCP and Merin Joseph as Kozhikode DCP. Kochi DCP Yatish Chandra who was in the news for brutally removing agitators ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, was shifted as Thrissur rural SP. M. Surendran was posted as Alappuzha state police chief and T. Narayana as SP railways.
