Quick verification ordered against Oommen Chandy, A P Anil Kumar
Palakkad: The Vigilance Court here on Monday ordered a quick verification by the Vigilance and Anti- Corruption bureau against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and former minister for the welfare of scheduled castes and backward castes A.P. Anil Kumar based on a petition alleging the violation of formal procedure in appointing 170 staff for Palakkad medical college.
Petitioner P. Rajeev, who is the BJP Palakkad district secretary, alleged in his petition that nearly 200 appointments were made for the medical college which was set up using public money. Without posting permanent staff through the PSC, the former UDF government confirmed the posting of 170 staff in February 29 this year. Mr Chandy is the first respondent and Mr Anil Kumar the second.
The court ordered the submission of the report before September 19. Former secretary of the Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Castes Indrajith Singh, former special officer of the Medical College Dr S. Subhaiah, backward caste development department director V.R. Joshi and joint director Muhammed Ibrahim are the other respondents. Mr Chandy was the chairman of the society for the Integrated Institute of Medical Science which runs the medical college formed under the welfare of scheduled castes and backward castes department.
