BENGALURU: In a new twist to the case related to the bail petition of Mr Marigowda, an ‘alleged’ close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a High Court judge on Monday recused himself from hearing the plea.
The advocate for the petitioner had prayed for an interim anticipatory bail, citing his client’s wish to attend the funeral of Rakesh, the eldest son of Mr Siddaramaiah. But Srinivas Gowda recused himself from hearing the case.
Mr Marigowda, who reportedly humiliated Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha in public following a row over a land issue, is still at large.
Case against Nithya quashed
The high court on Monday quashed a case against godman Swami Nithyananda and his followers, filed by his former driver Lenin Karuppan in 2010. The FIR was registered by the city police station after he alleged that that some of Nithyananda followers allegedly interrupted his address to the media.
No relief for KSE
The High Court on Monday refused to quash the disproportionate assets case against Opposition leader in the Council K.S. Eshwarappa. The court directed the Lokayukta special court to follow the procedure as per law only after recording the sworn statement of the complainant.
An advocate, B. Vinod, had filed a case accusing Eshwarappa, his son and daughter-in-law of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Rowdy hacked to death
A rowdy was hacked to death by a gang of eight men in Nandini Layout police limits on Sunday night. Old rivalry could be the reason for the murder, the police said.
