Male leopard grievously hurt in road accident

Policemen informed forest officials at around 6 am and they found the injured leopard lying in a bush by the roadside.

TUMAKURU: A male leopard aged around eight years was seriously injured in a road mishap after it was hit by an unknown vehicle near Acharanoor village of Tumakuru taluk in the district in the early hours of Monday.

Forest officials said the leopard was knocked by a speeding vehicle between 3 am and 4 am following which some villagers alerted the police control room about its condition. Policemen informed forest officials at around 6 am and they found the injured leopard lying in a bush by the roadside.

A veterinarian found that the leopard had injured its hind legs and spine. The injured animal was shifted to Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru where it will be provided better medical attention.
