Kerala resolves to speed up development of airports
Thiruvananthapuram: Land acquisition will be expedited for further development of the airports, as per a decision taken at a review meeting held by Chief Secretary S. M. Vijayanand here on Friday. According to sources, steps will be taken to acquire 18 acres of land, which was the minimum requirement for the construction of new domestic terminal building on Chakai side.
It was also decided to avoid flooding of the Kannur international airport project area. Around 75 acres of land would be required to extend the length of the runway to 3400 metres. Road connectivity will also be improved. The obstacles on land acquisition for further development of Karippur airport were also discussed.
