VS Achuthanandan raises red flag against Vizhinjam port project

The conspiracy angle, serious irregularities brought out by CAG needs to be investigated thoroughly.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan shot off a letter to the Chief Minister demanding suspension of all construction work shortly before Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the berth piling work at the project site on Thursday. He reminded that the LDF had right from the beginning told the people that there was large-scale corruption in the Seaport project. Even during last Assembly elections the front had reiterated the stand.

Mr Achuthanandan said the probe should be able to expose the cheating that took place in the name of agreement and bring all those behind the irregularities and illegal activities to justice. The conspiracy angle, serious irregularities brought out by CAG needs to be investigated thoroughly. He said all dealings between the promoter and the government required to be examined in detail. While finalising the terms of reference for the probe all these issues should be factored in, he added. All controversial decisions taken at different stages and at various levels should be scrutinised minutely, he added.
