Vizhinjam work will go on: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said there was no question of abandoning Vizhinjam Seaport Project in the wake of the judicial commission probe announced by the government. The Chief Minister said that the judicial probe would go on the one hand and project implementation on the other. Action will be taken if any instance of corruption is unearthed during the course of project work. “No one must think that Vizhinjam port project will be abandoned by the government,” he said reaffirming the LDF government stand.
The Chief Minister's reaction came in the wake of veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan's demand for halting all construction works related to Vizhinjam project till the completion of the judicial commission probe. The state government on Wednesday had constituted a three member judicial panel headed Justice (retd) C.N. Ramchandran Nair to look into irregularities pointed out by the CAG in connection with the agreement signed with Adani Ports and all other allegations related to the project.
