Visakhapatnam: White paper sought on land scam
Visakhapatnam: The controversy over alleged land scam that runs into thousands of crores of rupees refuses to die out as demand for release of a white paper and CBI inquiry is gaining momentum even as the government has ordered public hearing and re-survey of the land.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, CPM state secretariat member Ch. Narasinga Rao alleged that ruling party MLAs, MPs, ministers and leaders are behind the Rs 25,000-crore scam. He demanded that the government release a white paper with all the names of those responsible for the scam and book criminal cases against them.
“The district collector himself said the value of the land whose documents were tampered will be Rs 10,000 crore, but it must be worth Rs 25,000 crore, involving lakhs of acres. The government is trying to weaken the case by simply ordering a public hearing inquiry, instead of initiating criminal act-ion against those responsible. It’s unfortunate that the Chief Minister, who was here in the city for three days, did not utter a single word about the land scam which shows that ruling party leaders are behind it,” he said.
“The land pooling done by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) in Vizag rural, Bheemili, Anandapuram and Pendurthy mandals is a farce and inquiry should also be conducted into it,” he said.
