Shamna case: Medical board submits report

It is also learnt that the report has named one more doctor in the death apart from the role of medicine department head Dr Jilse George.

Kochi: In a fresh development in the inordinately delayed investigation into the death of medico Shamna Tasneem at Ernakulam Government Medical College, it is understood that the state level apex medical board has handed over to the Crime Branch which is probing the case, the report on medical negligence in the case. It is also learnt that the report has named one more doctor in the death apart from the role of medicine department head Dr Jilse George.

Nurses too are learnt to be named in the report. It is also learnt that one of the accused has secured anticipatory bail also. The apex medical board is learnt to have not given answers to a questionnaire given by the Crime Branch in the case during its last meeting in April seeking specific answers to certain riddles in the case. This is crucial in framing the chargesheet in the case. Three days ago the CB sent a reminder to the Director of Health Services in this regard.
