Pilot S Achu Dev's body to reach Thiruvananthapuram today
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of fighter pilot S. Achu Dev who was killed in the Sukhoi – 30 crash on May 23 at Tezpur in Assam will be brought to Thiruvananthapuram by a special Air Force flight on Friday at 9 am. The funeral will be held at his ancestral home at Pantheerankavu in Kozhikode on Saturday afternoon with full military and state honours. The body will be kept at Pongumoodu home for the public to pay their respects until 5 pm on Friday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and hordes of other dignitaries are expected to pay homage to Achu Dev.
After 5 pm, the body will be shifted to the Pangode Military Hospital. The officer’s mortal remains have reached Sulur Air Force station at Coimbatore on Thursday night after the ceremonial guard of honour at Salonibari Air Force base at Tezpur which was attended by his parents and immediate relatives. On Saturday, the body will be taken in a special Air Force Flight to Kozhikode. Achu Dev’s only elder sister Anushree, a software engineer in Bengaluru, has already reached Pantheerankavu in Kozhikode, the native place of Sahadevan.
