Kerala High Court stays ten assistant grade appointments

Petitioners argued that they were also part of the rank list and they should also be considered for the vacant post.

Kochi: Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the appointment to ten vacancies of assistant grade at Kerala University by the PSC. The stay, for one month, was imposed on a batch of petitions filed by rank-listed individuals as per the notification passed in 2005. The single bench had earlier upheld the appointment made to the posts however there was a condition that no further appointments should be made from the previous rank list. Petitioners argued that they were also part of the rank list and they should also be considered for the vacant post. Single bench had found that the rank list lapsed and further appointment from the same rank list was not valid.
