Irinjalakuda MLA K U Arunanan faces party's ire
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Thursday said Irinjalakuda MLA K. U. Arunanan should not have attended the RSS function. Reacting to the questions regarding the controversial incident, Mr Kodiyeri said the legislator should have avoided the function. CPM Thrissur district secretary had sought an explanation from Arunan on Wednesday. Further action will be taken after getting his version.
The legislator’s participation in the function has caused huge embarrassment to the CPM which has been running a campaign against the SanghParivar’s fascist and divisive agenda in the state and across the country. Moreover, there are strict standing instructions from the party to its members to keep away from any activity of RSS including public meetings, social work or voluntary work organised by the Sangh Parivar.
Sharing platform with the RSS which had recently launched a campaign against CPM accusing the latter of politics of violence and even held demonstrations against the chief minister during his visit to Delhi, Bhopal and Hyderabad, is seen as completely unacceptable and irresponsible act by party leaders. Sources said though the MLA has clarified that a party area committee leader had invited him at the behest of temple committee, the explanation does not seem to be satisfactory. It may be recalled that veteran CPM leader N. Pdamlochanan had to quit as Kollam Mayor in 2010 after he inaugurated a reception committee office of RSS state meet. Subsequently he was also suspended from the primary membership of the party.
