Andhra Pradesh Everest climbers felicitated

14 students from AP social welfare schools achieve new heights in life.

Vijayawada: Everest climbers from Andhra Pradesh received a hearty welcome from Andhra Pradesh government at Gannavaram airport on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinna Rajappa and minister for social welfare Nakka Anandh Babu welcomed the 14 students of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Schools, Residen-tial Schools and Institu-tions Society and Andhra Pradesh Youth Services who have succeeded in climbing the Mount Everest and congratulated them for their success.

Sandhya Bhai Vadithe, G. Hari Prasad, R. Sundar Raju, Rani Boddu, G. Suresh Babu, V. Krishna Rao, K. Durga Rao, Bharat Thammineni, Nagaraju Sundarana, Satya Rao, Mothukuri Dharma Teja, Chenna Rao Gajavalli, Eeswar Seelam and Bodla Sagar are the 14 successful climbers.

A huge rally was arranged in the city from Gannavaram airport to Tummalapalli Kalakshetram. The achievers thanked the government for helping them to dream big. Rani Boddu, a student of Social Welfare School, said that she was from a family which did not ever dream of going to a city. She said that she was happy for the encouragement given by the government.

Another student Sand-hya Bhai Vadithe said that being a daughter of a farmer, she was very proud in climbing Mount Everest. She said that the success gave a lot of confidence to her. Karre Satya Rao, a student from Visakhapatnam, thanked her parents for his success.

“Being born in a fishermen community, I have faced many hurdles in life. But my parents have supported me in every moment. I thank Andhra Pradesh state government for supporting us to realise our dream,” he said.

Sekhar Babu, who guided the 14 students, said that team work was the main reason for their success. Andhra Pradesh government was first to support the 16 students to climb the Everest and unfortunately two students did not succeed. These students proved that poor and backward classes students were no more backward and they can achieve new heights.

Meanwhile, a felicitation programme for the MOunt Everest climbers was held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram and Vijaya-wada city police commissioner D. Gautam Sawang felicitated the students and congratulated them for their achievement in climbing the Everest.
