Thiruvananthapuram: First medical courses allotment before July 15
Thiruvananthapuram: There would be two allotments to medical courses from the medical rank list published on Wednesday as per the schedule approved by the Medical Council of India. The first allotment for MBBS and BDS will be published before July 15 and the second before August 22.
Medical and dental colleges can fill up the remaining seats before August 31. This will be the last medical entrance test by the state government as the seats will be filled from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) from next year. The admissions for government medical and dental colleges and for merit quota seats in self-financing medical and dental colleges would be from the medical rank list of the state government. However, self-financing medical and dental colleges will have to fill their management seats from NEET this year.
From next year also, state medical entrance examination is likely to be conducted for admissions to Ayurveda, Siddha, agriculture, homoeo, veterinary and allied courses. Students disqualified: As many as 11,690 students were disqualified for want of minimum of ten marks.
The results of 329 candidates under medical stream have been withheld for various reasons. The results of candidates claiming SC/ST benefits, but whose community claims have not been cleared by the screening committee constituted for the purpose, have been withheld.
The answer keys of the entrance examinations were published on April 28. A few complaints regarding the questions and answer keys were examined by expert committees. Based on their recommendations, modifications were made in answer keys by deleting one question from physics part of the medical paper I (chemistry and physics) examinations. Valuation was done based on 72 questions in chemistry and 47 questions in physics. The score obtained in physics part of medical paper I has been multiplied by (48/47), corrected to four decimal places and is then added to the score obtained in chemistry part to get the total score in medical paper I. The formula is applied to award proportionate scores based on the score of the candidate for the questions considered for evaluation to compensate the loss of scores for the deleted question.
Separate notification for centralised allotment process (CAP) for various courses and colleges will be issued later.
