Hyderabad: Fire in two edible oil units
Hyderabad: Property worth several lakhs was gutted when fire broke out in a godown at Katedan Industrial Area early on Sunday.
Fire officials said short-circuit was suspected to the cause of the mishap. The fire broke out at Shalimar coconut oil company and Nilgiri edible oil company at around 6.30 am, fire officials said.
Locals who noticed the flames informed the local police who alerted the fire personnel.
A fire tender from Rajendranagar fire station was rushed to the place and soon three more tenders from Gowliguda, Moghalpura and Chandulal Baradari fire station reached the spot.
“It took about over three hours to control the fire. A lot of combustible material was stored in the godown belonging to oil processing companies that also made turmeric and chilli powder,” said fire officer T. Jangan Mohan.
The asbestos roof of the building collapsed due to heat from the raging fire. Fire officials entered the only after the fire was completely doused.
