Tout cheated schools, not SSLC students: DPI
Bengaluru: While 25 students of the Vivekananda High School and 10 of the St George Public School in Sarayipalya ,Thanisandra have not been allowed to appear for the ongoing SSLC examination, students of these schools have been writing the SSLC examination for the last four years, according to sources in the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
It has now been found that both schools are not illegal, but don't have the minimum student strength to be recognised as SSLC examination centres.
“Till last year students of both these schools were sent to different schools to write the exams. But this year, a middleman approached the schools claiming he could make them examination centres if he was paid Rs 3 lakh. But after collecting the money he gave them fake letters of approval from the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board and himself collected the examination fee from the schools. Now the police is investigating this whole affair," said a DPI officer.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Associated Managements of English Medium Schools (KAMS) blamed the KSEEB's insistence on a school having more than 25 students for it to be recognised as an examination centre for the entire mess.
“It literally forced the Vivekananda School to take the help of a middleman to be recognized as an examination centre and he cheated both the school and the department. Such incidents cannot happen without the connivance of officials," charged Mr. D Shashikumar, General Secretary, KAMS.
