Skill oriented courses at Vikrama Simhapuri University from next year

Higher education department approved all these courses.

Nellore: Vikrama Simhapuri University has been discussing with industries in Sri City and Krishnapatnam Port to launch new skill oriented courses tailor made to the industry from the coming academic year.

VSU authorities said that both KP Port and Sri City reacted positively to their proposals and also gave their nod to extend internship facility to students pursuing special courses and absorb the eligible.

Meanwhile, the VSU secured the department of higher education's nod to introduce MBA Logistics and Supply Chain Management for the first time in the state in association with Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd from the coming academic year.

This is in addition to M.Sc physics, M.Sc analytical chemistry, diploma in journalism, diploma in translation (Hindi and Telugu) and a new diploma course in aqua culture in association with fisheries college located at Muthukuru and few other courses. Higher education department approved all these courses.

VSU is also planning to launch degree course (BA) in tourism development in association with Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management from this year.

Speaking to this newspaper, the VSU registrar, Prof. P.R. Sivasankar, said that all the courses they proposed to offer from this year have job potential and a committee constituted by the higher education wing recommended the courses.

He said that AP Skill Development Corporation had given 10 days training in communication skills to 270 students within VSU jurisdiction after Infosys sought candidates with B.Sc mathematics qualification.

According Prof. Sivasankar, six more skill training centres are being established in Kavali, Gudur and Atmakur divisions within the next three months for the benefit of graduates living in these divisions.
