Bengaluru: A day after her fiancé wrote a letter canceling the marriage, an upset 32-year-old woman, an MBA graduate, ended her life by hanging in her house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, Nagalakshmi, was engaged to Karthik, a techie working in Hyderabad in 2016 and their marriage was to be held in the month of May. Though the engagement took place one-and-half year ago, the marriage was postponed by a year, when Karthik’s father passed away shortly after the engagement.

Nagalakshmi had sent an email to her father before ending her life citing that it was Karthik who kept postponing the marriage and sometimes expressing unwillingness to marry her and also mentioned the role of his mother.

According to police, incident took place in the evening when Nagalakshmi was alone at home while her parents had gone to their relative’s house. She hung herself to the ceiling and her father Devanand, who found the body, informed the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Nagalakshmi and Karthik got engaged after they came in contact through a matrimonial site. Their marriage was postponed twice.

Karthik, who allegedly met an astrologer, had told that his fiancée was unlucky for their family and thus he had decided to cancel the marriage. Upset over this she has taken this extreme step. Devanand has filed a case against Karthik alleging that he was directly responsible for his daughter’s death.
