Hyderabad: Officials felicitated the Republic Day contingent of the NCC Directorate AP and Telangana NCC cadets on Thursday, upon their return from New Delhi. The contingent comprised an officer, 121 cadets and 10 support staff. Of them, 18 cadets were part of the NCC contingent that participated in the march past at Kartavya Path on Republic Day.
Sergeant G. Prem Krithika of Secunderabad Group HQ, was adjudged Best Cadet in the Senior Wing Army category and was awarded the trophy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Cadet Amoghvardaraj Naidu stood third in the Senior Division Navy Wing. Cadets V. Siva Ganesh from Andhra Pradesh and CH Neethin Sai from Secunderabad were awarded the DG NCC Medallion for standing fourth in the Best Cadet Junior Division Army and Junior Division Navy category respectively.
The training and selection of cadets at the sub-unit and unit level was completed in three months starting from September.
I was able to take part in this camp for the second time and it was my dream to win the Best Cadet award from the Prime Minister. Since September we have been having strict and vigorous training. I stood forth in the Junior Wing. I have reached one milestone want to become an IAS officer. It was a bit challenging to take part in all the events and programmes. The schedule was really tight and we barely got any rest. But, in the end, it was all worth it. Initially it was difficult to adjust to the cold weather in Delhi.

From Secunderabad, we had 30 cadets taking part. My camp experience has been very refreshing. I had earlier participated in this camp and won the Best Cadet and this time, I won the third position in the senior division. The standard was very high. We got to visit the homes of senior Army officers. They gave us an insight into their lives. We interacted with the President and the Prime Minister. In the best cadet competition, we had a written examination, followed by rifle firing, standard drill an dgroup discussion, a formal debate and personal interview. Top four were interviewed by the Director-General, NCC.
