HYDERABAD: Numaish, the 82nd All India Industrial Exhibition, that opened on Sunday will be a sort of a homecoming for the people, as it will be a full-fledged event for the first time after the pandemic and the organisers have promised that it will be bigger and better.
Numaish has around 2,400 stalls this time, selling everything from handicrafts, textiles and ornaments to dry fruits and food items. Starting this year will be Japanese, Hawaii and Turkish food items and separate stalls of vegetarian food items.
While many stalls are being set up, the gaming and food zones were ready. The mini-train ran full.
Gaffar Moinuddin, a shopkeeper from Charminar, who had a stall of crockery sets, said, “We are very happy. The exhibition will be running full swing unlike the previous two years. We have ordered more stock and are expecting huge sales.”
Sari stall owner Babul Kumar from Kolkata said he had brought more varieties of cotton saris and dress materials.
Many people came on the first day to check out the place. Osmania University student R. Ujjwala, who had come with her friends, said, “Wave just come to explore the exhibition. We will plan and come back with friends and family when the exhibition is in full swing”.
Exhibition Society vice-president Ashwin Margham said safety measures were in place, and 400 police personnel and 400 private security guards were providing security.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated at the Exhibition Ground by ministers Mohammed Mahmood Ali, T. Harish Rao, who is also Exhibition Society president, V. Prashanth Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Harish Rao noted that the Numaish was the favourite event of the people. It was also a platform for small entrepreneurs, especially for women from remote areas.
Minister Mahmood Ali stressing that the income from the exhibition was used for the education of 30,000 girls from 18 institutions.
