Roadworks along NH-44 going on at brisk pace
Currently, roads are being widened from four lanes to six lanes on both sides and service lanes are being constructed

Hyderabad: Expansion work of a 10-kilometre stretch, between Suchitra and Kompally, of the NH-44 connecting Hyderabad and Nagpur, is going on at a brisk pace.
Currently, roads are being widened from four lanes to six lanes on both sides and service lanes are being constructed. Following this, the construction of three flyovers and four underpasses will be taken up.
The project was approved last year and detailed project reports in this regard have been prepared. The works are estimated to cost Rs 600 crore and are being done in the engineering-procurement-construction mode.
The service roads will be seven metres wide on each side, while six-lane elevated corridors will be constructed in three phases — Suchitra-Dairy Farm junction, Cine Planet-Jeedimetla junction and Kompally-Dhulapally junction.
A senior official, requesting anonymity, said that the works are likely to be completed next year and that the construction of skyways and underpasses would be done only after the existing roads are extended. He added that the project would be a major boost for the northern part of the city.
