Chennai: Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation on Monday has warned the consumers not to be cheated by certain private agencies posing as collection agent of the utility for payment of electricity bills online or in person.
An official release of Tangedco said that it has not appointed any collection agents as being advertised and consumers are requested not to be deceived.
“The low-tension electricity consumers (residential, commercial and establishment) of Tangedco have been provided with the facility to remit the payment for the bills at the section office counters. All e-seva centres of the state government also provide the facility to make payment for the bills. Besides this, all post offices have been enabled with the facility to make payment for the bills,” it said.
The release said the facility for the payment of the power bills has also been enabled in the branch counters of City Union Bank, Lakshmi Vilas Bank and Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank and mobile apps of Karur Vysya Bank, CUB and Indian Bank. TMBs ATMs have also been enabled to collect the payment for electricity bills. Alternatively, the registered users of Tangedco’s consumers can make payment through online by accessing www.tangedco.gov.in.
“No private agencies have been authorised to collect the electricity charges. Hence consumers are requested to make use of Tangedco’s authorised website and counters only and desist from making payment through any other unauthorised means so as to avoid disconnection of supply for non-payment,” it said.
