Drive against goons on, says CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Thrissur: The goons and mafias posing a threat to peace in the state will be put down with force and the police have started a drive against them, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said. He was speaking after receiving the guard of honour at the passing out parade of new police recruits at the Ramavarmapuram Police Academy here on Monday.
"It is the duty of the police officers to behave with utmost decency and dignity and not to get swayed by corruption. Uncorrupt officers are the pride of the police force," he added. However, there were officers who were not clean and the government was getting several complaints about them, he added.
"When the government acts strongly against corruption, those who create impediments on the path will be strongly dealt with," he added. He also said that common people should be able to approach police stations without fear. Though the government had limited finance, more police stations would be opened, he said. DGP Lokanath Behera, ADGP armed police battalions Nithin Agarwal and training IGP Mahipal Yadav among others were present.
