Lucknow: Four children drowned during immersion of Durga idols in the Yamuna River on Saturday.
The incident took place in Fatehpur district and the deceased have been identified as Preeti, 14, her brother Prince, 12, and two girls Bhuri, 15, and Prabha, 12. ADM Amit Kumar said that the body of Preeti had been taken out but the bodies of the other three children were still untraceable.
All four children were on a boat during immersion and fell down midstream after they lost balance. Divers have been pressed into service to bring out the bodies.
