Andhra Pradesh techie drowns in US lake
Nellore: A young woman engineer, hailing from Kavali in Nellore district, drowned in a lake in Lacey city of Thurston county in Washington state, USA, on Thursday.
Priyanka Gogineni, 24, daughter of Venkatarao and Satyavathi, who had only a month ago joined a firm as civil engineer in Washington, had been in the USA two years to do her master’s degree from Saint Martin's University, Lacey, Washington.
According to her uncle, Subbarao, Priyanka, on Thursday morning, went for her usual walk, and then to the Hicks lake to pluck a lotus flower, when she slipped and drowned. Those walking with her immediately alerted the police who tried to rescue her, but could not. Her body was later fished out of the lake.
The Lacey city police, who took the statements of eye witnesses, confirmed that Priyanka had slipped accidentally, and there were no suspicious circumstances to her death. The North America Telugu Association is making arrangements to send the body to India.
She was the only daughter of Venkatarao, native of Chemidithipadu of Gudluru mandal in Prakasam district, a contractor for the Roads and Buildings Department.
