Spiritual, cultural programmes will be conducted.

Warangal: The historic Bhadrakali temple in Warangal is all set to celebrate the Bhadrakali Devi sharrannavarathri mahostsavams on a grand note.

Arrangements are almost completed for the celebrations beginning Saturday and going on till October 12.

Temple executive officer K. Anjani Devi said that lighting, sanitation, barricading, drinking water, health facilities are in place for the devotees. The Municipal Corporation, medical and health, police, roads and buildings, Transco and other departments worked together for the arrangements. Spiritual discourses and cultural programmes will be conducted during evening hours.

CCTV cameras are set up and LCD screens are also in place at some points for the convenience of the devotees.

“We are taking all steps to ensure the devotees do not face any problems. Mineral water will be provided free of cost to everyone on the temple premises. Annadanam will be held in the afternoon on all nine days. Prasadam also will be distributed during the night. Since a large number of people arrive for Vahana puja during Dasara, it will be arranged in the space near Keerthi Gardens instead of inside the temple premises,” she said.

Temple chief priest Bhadrakali Sheshu said the celebrations would begin with Dwajarohanam on Saturday, Lalitha panchami vratham on October 5, Saddula Bathukamma on October 8, Mahastami on October 9, Mahanavami on October 10, Vijaya Dashami on October 11.

On the final day October 12, the celestial wedding of presiding deity Bhadrakali and Bhadreshwara Swamy will be held.

Though many believe that the temple was built during the Kakatiya, ancient scriptures mentioned that the Bhadrakali temple was built in the year 625 AD. Chalukya King Pulikesi-II built the temple. The sculptures, the design of the pillars suggest that the temple was built during Chalukya time.
