GHMC launches Swachh Somajiguda' campaign

HYDERABAD: Marking the Raksha Bandhan festivities, GHMC on Thursday launched ‘Swachh Somajiguda’ to spread the message of ensuring streets and roads are garbage-free.

The GHMC team comprised swachh autorickshaw drivers, sena members, sweepers and compactor vehicle operators, EVDM (enforcement & vigilance) staff and disaster management vehicles.

Women sweepers tied rakhi to vendors and watchmen of offices and apartments and requested them to protect the roads from litter and use swachh autos in Kundanbagh, where they also interacted with residents of Kundanbagh, commercial shops and basti dwellers.

The road-sweeping waste of soil, leaves and plastic litter was segregated and piled into a compost row in a nearby garden. Most of the plastic and paper litter was retained for recycling.
