Document writers stage Pen Drive stir, find fault with new registration process

Kakinada: Document Writers in Andhra Pradesh continued their “pen drive’’ agitation on its second day of Thursday, in protest against introduction of 2.0 software in the registration process.
They sat in dharna in front of the registrar’s office at Kakinada, the sub-registrar office at Jangareddygudem and other places.
The document writers association representatives led by its honorary president BJ Prasad and president PVS Rao called on the Inspector General of Stamps and Registration at Amaravati and presented their complaints.
Prasad told Deccan Chronicle that the officer advised them to make the new registration process successful. “Two or three registrations would be done under the new system, to start with, while the remaining registrations can be done under the previous system,” he told them.
He said that under the new system, a property purchaser can’t be given the original document. The original is deposited with the registration department. As per law, two witness signatures should be given in any document. But, with the new system, there needs to be no signature.
Rao claimed that the new system would harm those who purchase the properties or assets and this could lead to litigations in future.
He said the association would observe the documentation process for two or three days and then call a meeting and decide their future course of action.
