Rally for Rivers to reach Kerala

The rally in Thiruvananthapuram will begin with various programmes at Manaveeyam Veedhi on September 5 at 9:30 am.

KOZHIKODE: The Rally for Rivers, a national campaign to create awareness on the issue of water depletion, will reach the capital city on September 5. Launched by Isha Foundation, the rally is the brainchild of its founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The rally will be flagged off at Manaveedyam Veedhi by Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bai of the erstwhile Travancore royal family in the presence of Jaggi Vasudev.

Rally for Rivers is aimed at creating awareness on the issue of dying rivers by giving a missed call to the number 8000980009. It will be flagged off on September 3 at Coimbatore and will culminate in Delhi on October 2, covering 13 States and 21 major cities. Jaggi Vasudev will be driving this entire stretch of 6,560 km across India.

The rally in Thiruvananthapuram will begin with various programmes at Manaveeyam Veedhi on September 5 at 9:30 am. Named after the rivers of Kerala, 44 easels will be put up along the footpath of the street where students belonging to various schools and colleges in the district will recreate rivers on canvas. The rally will proceed to Tagore Theatre by 10 am which will see Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the programme.
