Narsipatnam Councillor Slaps Himself With Chappal For Failing to Fulfil Promises

Visakhapatnam: A councillor in Narsipatnam Municipality of Anakapalli district slapped himself with a slipper on Monday for failing to fulfil the promises he made to his voters. The councilor of Ward-20 of Narsipatnam, M. Ramaraju vented his frustration during the council meeting. The video of his act went viral on social platforms.

During the meeting, Ramaraju mentioned that it has been more than two and half years since he was elected as a councilor of the ward, but had done nothing in terms of solving civic issues like drainage, water supply connection, power, sanitation, roads and few other problems in his ward. Explaining the reason for slapping himself, Ramaraju said that he was not happy for not fulfilling the basic needs of the people in his ward.

The councillor, who ekes out a living by driving an auto-rickshaw in Narsipatnam, claimed that he tried to use all the channels to solve the problems in the ward but could not succeed.

Expressing much displeasure over the officials of the municipality, Ramaraju mentioned that the Municipality authorities had done nothing in Ward 20 for the past three years. The frustrated Ramaraju said that it was better to die in the council meeting for failing to fulfil the promise as the people in the ward had been demanding him to execute the unfulfilled civic works.
