Classes resume at Central University of Kerala; SRM to alter strategy

Registrar M. Radhakrishnan Nair told reporters that the varsity would explore all possibilities to address their issues.

KASARGOD: After a long interval, classes have resumed at Central University of Kerala (CUK) here on Monday. The varsity was closed on July 19 after Students Refugee Movement (SRM) started occupying department buildings at night demanding adequate hostel facilities. They ended the occupation as another section demanded resumption of classes.

Registrar M. Radhakrishnan Nair told reporters that the varsity would explore all possibilities to address their issues. “At this point, it is not that easy to resolve,” he said. “Various suggestions are under consideration, and we'll finalise them after discussing with students.” However, the protesters said they were not withdrawing, but changing the method. “We will weave out some other novel ways of protest,” said Vishnu, their leader.
