Want to ace CAT, prepare for December 4
Chennai: The Common Admission Test (CAT), a gateway to prestigious business schools, including Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), is to be held on December 4.
IIMs released the notification on Sunday which said the CAT 2016 will be conducted on a single day in two sessions.
In a release, Professor Rajendra K.Bandi, convener, CAT 2016, IIM Bangalore said that the exam will be conducted across 138 cities. Online registrations will begin on August 8 and students can register until September 22.
“Candidates will be given the option to select 4 cities in order of preference. Test cities and centres will be assigned to the candidates only after the last date for CAT 2016 registration. Hence candidates need not rush to block slots and sites in the initial days of registration,” the release said.
The duration of the exam will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections verbal ability, reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, quantitative ability.
“Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section,” the release said. The results of the test will tentatively be released in the second week of January.
Ramnath Kankadandi, course director, CAT (T.I.M.E) said there are no significant changes in the test pattern this year. “The exam pattern is the same as that for CAT 2015. A sectional timing of 60 minutes, on-screen calculator, non-multiple choice questions from CAT 2015 are all present this year too,” he said.
