Karnataka: After Bengaluru, Gadag Gets 'Third Eye' Project

Gadag: Gadag city in Karnataka is gearing up for the implementation of a transformative initiative called the 'Third Eye' project. The 'Third Eye Smart Police for Safe Gadag Betageri' project is underway and is being implemented in a phased manner. Minister of Tourism, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, HK Patil told reporters that the scheme aims to revolutionize the traffic management and law and order system in Gadag-Betageri.

"The 'Third Eye' project aims to maintain a robust law and order environment while prioritizing strict adherence to traffic regulations, thus safeguarding the convenience and well-being of the public. It is noteworthy that the Third Eye project is being launched in Gadag, after Bengaluru," he said.

The district police department has set up a command centre and adopted comprehensive measures for traffic management and crime prevention.

"Bullet cameras have been installed at 44 prominent locations in Gadag Betageri city. Complemented by a 40 km optical fibre network and 15 ANPR CCTV, the extensive surveillance infrastructure ensures effective monitoring of vehicular movement from every angle, and ensures thorough monitoring of routes into Gadag Betageri. Efforts are underway to identify additional sensitive areas and implement precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents," he added.

The project is being funded by the Nagarothana Scheme, MLA grant, the tourism department, and the City Municipality.

Rs 1.50 crore has been already allocated for the project.
