YSRC men attack leader in Tirupati

Mr Reddy reportedly joined YSRC before the elections and gained close access to the legislator of Chandragiri, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy.

Tirupati: Tension prevailed at M.R. Palli here in the city when villagers of Mallamgunta in Tirupati rural held a protest in front of the police station, condemning the attack on Muni Krishna Reddy, 52, the former director of single window of Mallamgunta.

According to sources, Mr Reddy, who belongs to YSRC, was allegedly attacked by his rival group from the same political party at the village on Sunday morning.

Mr Reddy reportedly joined YSRC before the elections and gained close access to the legislator of Chandragiri, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. On seeing this, his rival gang attacked him with iron rods on Sunday when he was resting at a temple in the village.

Mr Reddy, who was grievously injured in the attack, was rushed to a private hospital where he was administered first-aid and later shifted to Chennai for better treatment.

Meanwhile, on learning about the incident, his supporters from the village held protests in front of the police station in M.R. Palli, demanding the police to arrest the persons involved in the attack. The son of the victim, Santhosh Reddy lodged a police complaint saying that YSRC leader Dillinath Reddy and his followers were involved in the attack. Police registered a case and further investigation is on.
