Support, Congress tells K Chandrasekhar Rao
Vijayawada: The AP Congress wrote a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, seeking his support to the Congress to form government led by party president Rahul Gandhi at the Centre.
APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy welcomed the statement of Mr Rao about his support to the special category status demand He said the Congress had promised to give SCS immediately after coming to power, hence the formation of a government by the Congress was essential and sought Mr Rao’s support.
Mr Reddy said in the letter that Telangana state was created by the Congress, honouring the wishes of the people. The then Congress-led UPA government gave SCS and other assurances during bifurcation but the BJP government backtracked on this. He said that the Congress had decided to fulfil the SCS promise and Mr Gandhi announced that his first signature would be on the SCS file immediately after assuming charge as Prime Minister. The SCS was on the Congress manifesto.
He said he had written to the Telugu Desam, YSRC and Jana Sena parties to shun political differences and support the Congress at the Centre.
