Coimbatore: Cops crack daring gold, cash heist

Special team police under suspicion, investigated the two woman staff who were presented on duty during the incident.

Coimbatore: In a major breakthrough, Coimbatore police have cracked the daring cash heist case with the arrest of two persons including a woman staff of a finance company.

According to police, a masked robber entered a private finance firm near Ramanathapuram couple of days back; while two women staff were on duty the robber had assaulted one of the women staff, made her faint, and after receiving the locker key from another staff he robbed away Rs 2 crore worth 804 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 1, 34,480 cash.

Special team police under suspicion, investigated the two woman staff who were presented on duty during the incident. After tracking their phone calls, police picked up one Suresh, 32, a graduate from Kembatty Colony.

Investigating him police came to know that Suresh had an extra martial affair with the 26-year-old Renuka Devi, one of the staff who was on duty during the incident.

Suresh a native of Sathyamangalam in Erode district is at present staying at Kembatty Colony and working in a private firm in Coimbatore. Suresh had lost several lakh rupees investing in share market which he borrowed from his friends. In order to repay his debts the duo had planned to rob the money from the firm.

Suresh during investigation admitted his crime of robbing the money and police seized the money and jewels. Further investigations are on.
