Two-wheeler shops see brisk business in Kochi
Two-wheeler dealers in Kozhikode said sales witnessed record highs in the past two days.

Kochi: The last two days saw sale of vehicles almost doubling up in Kochi as two-wheeler showrooms offered up to 40 per cent discount in the wake of ban imposed on sale of Bharat Stage-3 vehicles from Saturday. Showrooms in Kochi remained open till midnight on Thursday as buyers rushed to make best of the offers. While the prices of bike and scooter models were slashed by up to Rs 20, 000, prices for certain four-wheel vehicle models were cut up to Rs 50,000 per unit.
"As against the average 300 temporary registrations a day, Thursday saw over 600 TRs while over 650 online applications landed on Friday. Most showrooms sold out all their BS-111 units by Friday morning itself," said Regional Transport Officer P.H. Sadiq Ali. "We had a stock of 75 bikes and buyers kept coming from Thursday morning itself. We could close the shop only by 11.30 pm on Thursday and the whole units got sold off by 10.30 am Friday," said Abhilash Jain of 'Hero Kochi' an authorized dealer for Hero Motocorp bikes and scooters. "The enquiries kept coming even on Friday evening," he said.
Two-wheeler dealers in Kozhikode said sales witnessed record highs in the past two days. According to a Honda dealer he had received orders for 350 bikes on Friday but could deliver only 200 units. The money will be refunded for others, he added. Discounts of up to Rs 22,000 on BS-III models were provided for the customers, said another dealer. The total sales of Honda BS-3 models touched 1,250 scooters and bikes in Kozhikode while Bajaj sold around 600 units.
